Please, FIFA, split AFC!

First in English, then in Portuguese.

There are some complaints about New Zealand qualification to the World Cup, the Australian move to Asia, and the dominance of East Asia in the Qualifying. The arguments are all over the internet, so I don't need to bring them here.

My point is that all the complaints exist because there are some problems in the Confederation's division used by FIFA. In order to solve that, I would suggest three things: the end of the OFC (Oceania Football Confederation); the split of AFC (Asian Football Confederation) in two; and the merge of East Asia and ASEAN teams with the OFC to form a new Pacific Football Confederation (PFC).

That's the way it would look like:

I. Pacific Football Confederation (PFC), 32 members:
a) East region (9): China, Hong Kong, DPR Korea, Korea Republic, Guam, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Macau and Mongolia;
b) ASEAN zone (11): Brunei, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam;
c) Oceania region (12): American Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga, Vanuatu and New Zealand.

II. Asian Football Confederation (AFC), 25 members:
a) West region (12): Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar,
Saudi Arabia, Syria, UAE and Yemen;
b) South and Central zone (13): Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

This would solve not only World Cup Qualifying problems, but also those of the Club World Cup and the Confederations Cup where Oceania has a secured spot against the World best. I think would be quite easy and unharmful to do.

Existem algumas reclamações contra a classificação da Nova Zelândia para a Copa do Mundo, a mudança da Austrália para a Ásia e o domínio do leste asiático nas Eliminatórias. Os argumentos estão espalhados pela internet, e não há necessidade de repeti-los.

Entretanto, há um ponto em comum a todas elas. O problema está na atual divisão das Confederações adotada pela FIFA: a OFC (Confederação de Futebol da Oceania) é muito mais fraca que as outras. Para resolver esse problema, sugiro três coisas: o fim da OFC; a divisão da AFC (Confederação Asiática de Futebol); e a fusão entre as federações das regiões leste e ASEAN com aquelas da OFC numa nova Confederação.

Eis como ficaria:

a) Região Oeste (12): Arábia Saudita, Bahrein, Catar, Cuaite, EAU, Iêmen, Iraque, Jordânia, Líbano, Omã, Palestina e Síria;
b) Regiões Central e Sul (13): Afeganistão, Bangladesh, Butão, Índia, Maldivas, Nepal, Paquistão, Sri Lanka, Irã, Quirguistão, Tajiquistão, Turcomenistão and Uzbequistão.

Isso resolveria não só os problemas das Eliminatórias das Copa do Mundo, como da Copa das Confederações e o Mundial de Clubes, em que a Oceania tem vaga garantida entre os melhores do mundo. E seria fácil de fazer, e não feririria ninguém.
